How can I backup my SPD-SX with the SPD-SX-Editor?

The SPD-SX-Editor doesn't containing a backup function, but there’s a workaround to do a backup. If you connect the SPD-SX via USB, you will see a normal flash-drive like a USB stick. On this drive you will find a folder named „Roland“. Please do not rename nor edit this folder and its content. Now you can create a new folder on your computer named as you want, for example „backup_bandname_170401“, and copy the „Roland“ folder from your SPD-SX into your new folder.
To restore a backup, do a backup before. Remove the „Roland“ folder on your SPD-SX and copy your edited „Roland“ folder onto the device. With this workaround, it’s also possible to edit your configuration offline. That means you can open the configuration without an SPD-SX on your USB port. Later you can copy/paste your configuration back to your SPD-SX. See the description below.

Is it possible to make changes in a configuration and push it later to the SPD-SX?

Yes, it’s also possible to edit your configuration offline. That means you can open and edit a configuration without an SPD-SX on your USB port. Do a backup from your Roland SPD-SX as described above. Instead that you open the flash-drive „SPD-SX“ with the editor, you simply open your backup folder. Now you have a backup version and a offline editing option.
To add your changes to your SPD-SX, do a backup before. Remove the „Roland“ folder on your SPD-SX and copy your edited „Roland“ folder onto the device.
